LACEY, Wash. - After the Saints came up short in the opener with Western Washington, the bats delivered 10 runs in the game two victory over the Vikings.
Two five-run innings along with a masterful performance by
Abby Runyon, the Saints came back on the day to get a split with Western Washington with a 10-1 result.
Facing possibly the hottest picture in the GNAC in Anna Kasner, who set the all-time strike out record for Western Washington, the Saints managed to put up three runs in the 7-3 loss.
Julia Lucas, who ended the day with four RBIs, drove in the first run in the first inning. The Saints added two runs in the sixth inning on a RBI single from
Devyn Connolly, but the Vikings managed to score seven in between to take the opener.
In the second game, Runyon's only mistake on the day was a solo blast in the top of the second inning. The Saints proceeded to score five runs in the bottom half of the frame to break open the lead.
Just an inning later, the Saints managed to pile five more runs onto the board and break open the game, cruising to a 10-to-1 victory. Five different Saints added to the run total with RBIs over the two innings.
The Saints and Western Washington will conclude the series with a double-header on Sunday with live stats and streaming available at smusaints.com.
