LACEY, Wash. – After capturing their first GNAC Championship title in program history, the Saint Martin's men's golf earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA West/South Central regional hosted at The Home Course.
COMPLETE RELEASE
Led by conference leader, and GNAC Championship Medalist,
Tyler Fitchett, and the Saints look to defend their course once again, this time on the biggest stage so far. After placing second in the regional preview, and taking first at the GNAC Championships, it will be the third time this year the Saints have played at The Home Course.
Fitchett leads all GNAC golfers this season with his 72.6 stroke average over 13 rounds, including his masterful 69-72-73-214 2-under par performance at the GNAC Championships.
Max Turnquist ranks second on the team with his 75 stroke average, which places him tied for sixth overall in the conference. Turnquist is fresh off a sixth place finish at the GNAC Championships.
Dennis Geissler, who has been consistent for the Saints all season long, is third in scoring at 76.1 strokes.
Jordan Terada, who earned fourth place at the GNAC Championships, is fourth on the team at 76.5 strokes.
Nick Baker, who played a major part in the Saints' final round at the GNAC Championships, shooting a team-low even par, is fifth in scoring at 77.7.
Eight teams from the West and eight more from the South Central make up the 16-team field. All four GNAC schools, SMU, Western Washington, Montana State Billings, and Northwest Nazarene earned a spot in the regional.
