LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's women's soccer team honored their two seniors,
Kendall Kemp and
Olivia Bianco, in their final match against Seattle Pacific on Thursday afternoon.
On the day where the Saints were sending off their seniors, Saint Martin's was unable to come away with a victory coming short against the talented Seattle Pacific women's soccer team.
Seattle Pacific jumped right out the gate in the first half, with two goals finding the back of the net back-to-back in the first seven minutes. They managed to get another two in before the buzzer to extend their lead.
In the second half, Saint Martin's started to build some momentum in their offense with eight shots, four of which were on target. The Saints' nearly cut the lead down, with a shot by
Taylor Goodpaster about 25 yards out towards the top of the goal, almost out of reach of the keeper.
Ali Campigotto posted five saves in the second half, after facing a total of 22 shots in the entire match.
Bianco ended her career playing four seasons for the Saints, appearing in 29 matches for a total of 1,800 minutes. She recorded three assists over the years and was a two-time All-Academic team member. Kemp finished out her career with SMU after two seasons, playing in 28 games for a total of 1,700 minutes, while recording 12 shots and one assist.
SMU ended the year with a 1-10 overall record.
