Saints' BB Closes Out 2021 Season

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – In the final day of action for Saints' baseball, Central Washington took both ends of the doubleheader to secure a series victory.

Saint Martin's and Central Washington went back and forth all first game, with the Saints getting the board with the long ball. Jake Leonard put SMU on top 3-1 in the second inning with a home run to left center.

After the Wildcats managed to regain in the led in the fourth, it was Aaron Renaud doing the damage in the seventh. The lefty went for a team-leading seventh home run of the year, a solo shot to right to tie the game at 4-4.

Saint Martin's had an opportunity to take the lead in the ninth, with Renaud on first with two outs. Ty Matsunami drove a ball deep into the right center gap, and Renaud came all the around trying to score. However, the Wildcats came up with a 8-4-2 relay to gun down Renaud and keep the score tied at 4-4.

Central Washington went on to win the game in the bottom of the ninth on a single to right field.

In his final start of his historic career for the Saints, Tanner Inouye was unable to keep the Wildcats in check. Central Washington jumped on SMU early, and eventually went on to win the series with an 11-5 result.
