Tyler Fitchett Shoots 3-Under Par Second Round To Lead Saints At The Saint Martin's Invitational

DUPONT, Wash. – The reigning GNAC Player of the Year, Tyler Fitchett, looked right at home, leading the Saints in the opening rounds of the Saint Martin's Invitational on Friday.

Fitchett (73-69-142) began the day on par. In the opening round, Fitchett carded one birdie, and only two bogeys, along with 15 pars to shot one over. But the lefty got hot in the second round, scoring seven birdies. Fitchett went four under par in the front nine, and finished the day three under par. His 142 places him tied for sixth overall in the field.
 
Dennis Geissler (73-78-151) tied with Fitchett in the opening round to lead the way just one over par. The round was highlighted by an eagle on hole eight, followed by a birdie on nine. However, despite shooting four birdies on the second 18, Geissler finished six over par, and tied for 34th.
 
Nick Baker (80-76-156) improved while the day went on and finished the back nine of the second round even par. Carter Sheets (81-75-156), in his first collegiate tournament, saw a six-shot improvement, and recorded the second-best round on the team in the second round. Jordan Terada (82-79-161) closed out the scorecard for the Saints.
 
Playing as individuals, Ethan Finau (77-77-154), and Kody Lamb (81-83-164) placed tied for 48th and 63rd overall respectively.
 
Saint Martin's (307-298-605) finished the day tied for 11th on the team leaderboard and will look to jump back up the standings in the final 18 holes tomorrow. Live stats of the round will be available at smusaints.com, and will begin at 8 AM.
