Baker, Fitchett Card 74s At Final Round Of WWU Invitational

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Dropping six strokes off his game from round one to round two, Nick Baker led the Saints in the final round of the Western Washington Invitational on Tuesday.

Baker (80-74-154), along with Tyler Fitchett (76-74-150) posted the lowest scores for the Saints on Tuesday afternoon. Baker began the day three over par on the back nine, before settling in and going one-under in the front nine to shoot 74. Fitchett recorded one birdie on both front and back nine, and also dropped two strokes off his game to place tied for 14th overall.
 
Dennis Geissler (74-75-149) nearly matched his total from day one, earning a birdie on hole two, and led the Saints overall at tied for 10th on the leaderboard. Ethan Finau (82-85-167) and Jordan Terada (82-88-170) rounded out the scorecard for the Saints. Carter Sheets (85-80-165) saw the second largest improvement behind Baker as an individual in the tournament.
 
Saint Martin's (312-308-620) placed eighth overall at the Western Washington Invitational, beating Northwest Nazarene by 12 strokes. Winning the tournament was Chico State at 596, followed by Montana State Billings (598) and Simon Fraser/Hawaii Hilo/San Bernardino (599).
 
The Saints head down to Colorado next week for the Farmers Insurance Sam Progal Regional Preview, hosted by Colorado State Pueblo. The tournament is set to begin October 4 and wrap up the next day.
