LACEY, Wash. – Saint Martin's controlled every facet of the match against GNAC opponent Montana State Billings, shutting out the Yellowjackets 2-0 on a wet Thursday afternoon.
Battling the rain and tough field conditions, Saint Martin's (3-4-0, 2-1-0) dominated in almost every offensive category. The Saints recorded 20 shots to the Yellowjackets' (4-3-1, 1-2-0) 7, along with eight shots on target to MSUB's one.
Maddie Wolff collected her second game-winning goal of the season, coming off an assist from
Rebecca Garrison in sixth minute. The Saints' lead quickly doubled in the 17th minute when Garrison notched her first career goal, scoring on a ball from
Payton Aselton.
The Saints' backline, who welcomed back goalie
Ali Campigotto, got all the offensive support they could ask for. The Saints blanked the Yellowjackets for their third shutout victory of the season. All three victories in the 2021 season have come via shutouts. Campigotto recorded her one save on six shots, and did not have to make a save until the 87th minute.
However, the Saints will have their hands full on Saturday afternoon, taking on #7 Seattle Pacific at 1:00 PM. Live stats and video of the match will be available on smusaints.com.
