Saints' Comeback Attempt Runs Out Of Time In Loss - Saint Martin's went on the road and faced a top-10 team in Colorado School of Mines in their season opener. The Saints trailing by two, scored a goal from Jason Fairhurst in the 74th minute to cut into the lead and pressure the Orediggers. However, the upset bid came up short as Mines held on a 2-1 victory.

 

Regis Upends Saints To Close Out Road Trip - The Saints' final game in Colorado did not go as planned, falling to Regis 5-0 on Sunday afternoon. Saint Martin's (0-2-0) offense created opportunities to score, recording seven shots, but were never able to find the back of the net.

 

Chico State Preview – The Wildcats enter the week 1-1-0, with a shutout victory over Western Washington, and an overtime loss to Seattle Pacific last week. On the year, the Wildcats have an even goal differential at 1-1, with their leading goal scorer as sophomore forward Jacob Chong. Goalie Luis Albarran has eight saves, with a .889 save percentage, and .48 goals allowed average. 

 

Sonoma State Preview – The Seawolves enter the week 1-1-0, with a shutout victory over Western Washington, and a 2-1 loss to Seattle Pacific last week. On the year, the Seawolves have positive goal differential at 3-2, with their leading goal scorer as three different players with one goal each. Goalie Derik Engebretsen has four saves, with a .667 save percentage, and 1.00 goals allowed average. 

 

Climbing Up The Record Boards – Entering 2021, Jason Fairhurst was tied for seventh in Saints’ history for most career goals at 10. On the year, Fairhurst has claimed seventh place for himself with one goal, bringing his total to 11. He is currently one goal behind Sebastian Navarro (2016-2019) for sixth place.

 

Clean Preseason – The Saints began their 2021 with two victories in two exhibition matches beginning with a 2-1 victory over Linfield. SMU followed up with a decisive 4-0 result against Columbia Basin. 

 

Saints Tabbed Fifth In GNAC Preseason Poll - Saint Martin's men's soccer enters the 2021 campaign with a young, but experienced team, after playing 10 matches in the 2020-21 COVID season. The Saints were voted tied for fifth in the GNAC Preseason Poll with Northwest Nazarene.


MSOC First Ever All-American – Brandon Madsen made history for the Saints in the 2019 season, receiving a first-ever program All-American title, along with many other accolades. Madsen ended his final season as a Saint with the most goals scored in a single season at Saint Martin's with 18, along with four assists for 40 total points. Last season, Madsen earned GNAC player of the Year, GNAC first team All-Conference, voted to the D2CCA first team All-Region, United Soccer Coaches third team All-Region, and finally D2CCA second team All-American. Madsen finished his career with 47 goals, nine assists, 103 points, and finished second all-time in GNAC in goals scored in just three seasons as a Saint.
