SMU Concludes Season with Gritty Loss to Simon Fraser

LANGLEY, B.C. – The Saint Martin's men's soccer team (2-14-2, 2-9-1 GNAC) finished up their season Sunday morning against regionally ranked Simon Fraser University (11-5-1, 8-3-1 GNAC). Despite an early morning wake-up call, the Saints gave the Red Leafs all they could handle, falling by a score of just 1-0.

With the game needing to be rescheduled from the originally slated Saturday night contest, the Saints caught a pre-sunrise bus for the great white north where they played their earliest game of the season, a nice 10:30 AM kickoff. The start was less than ideal, as the home side jumped on SMU early, scoring less than four minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead. From there, the Saints put plenty of press on the Red Leafs, cracking a total of 13 shots, including four on frame. Nick Mueller stood on his head, as he did in multiple games this season, totaling 10 saves. Angel Alvarado-Fajardo led the way with three shots for SMU, while Diego Andrade, Christian Gordon, and Sean Selanikio all had two shots each.

The Saints have officially concluded their 2022 campaign and are already excited for the amount of returning talent and new recruits they are preparing to have in 2023.
