Trio of Saints Named All-GNAC

PORTLAND, Oreg. – The Saint Martin's men's soccer team had three different players selected to be a part of the All-GNAC team on Wednesday morning. Seniors Christian Gordon and Jay Mendoza, as well as sophomore Ethan Jud all garnered honorable mention honors for SMU.

Mendoza leads the charge with his second career all-conference selection, after being named to the second team in 2021. The offense constantly ran through him as he was atop the team leaderboard in the assists category with four throughout the season. One of the highlights for Mendoza came on senior day when he lofted a perfect set piece that found the head of Gordon who scored his first career goal off the sumptuous free kick.

Gordon was delighted with the goal, but defense was where the senior thrived. As an anchor of the back line, Gordon played 1,600 minutes for the Saints this season, leading all Saint Martin's players. With multiple goal-saving tackles, as well as numerous goal line clearances, Gordon is the type of center back that every goalkeeper dreams of having.

The youngest of the group, Jud's season was fueled by his phenomenal week in early October which garnered him conference Player of the Week honors. The sophomore scored four goals that week, including the first hat trick by a Saint since 2018, in a 5-2 win over Western Oregon. Despite his 5'8" stature, Jud was a constant aerial threat that gave opposing defenders headaches every time he stepped on the field.
