NAMPA, Idaho – The Saint Martin's women's basketball team (3-5, 0-1 GNAC) was tripped up in their conference opener on Thursday afternoon, falling 77-64 against Northwest Nazarene (5-2, 1-0 GNAC).
It was a solid first half for the Saints who powered out to a 5-0 lead right off the bat with a free throw from
Anjel Galbraith, followed by a
Rian Clear jumper, and then a Galbraith bucket. With the score tied at 11-11, the Saints again utilized a run, scoring eight straight to go up 19-11. SMU ended the first up 21-16. Clear capped off the half with a three from deep that cemented a quarter win for Saint Martin's. Going into the locker room, the Saints were up six.
NNU owned the second half including a third quarter where they outscored the Saints by 13. When the dust had settled on the fourth, Nazarene escaped with a 13-point win. Galbraith led the way with 19 points with Clear right behind at 13.
