TUCSON, Ariz. – The Saints were unable to get the offense going in both ends of their doubleheader, falling to both Chico State, 4-2, and San Francisco State 11-2 on Saturday.
In the opening game of the day, Saint Martin's (1-3) fell behind early to Chico State. In the second, Chico State took the lead on an RBI double down the line. Later in the third, Chico State added to the lead with a two-run home run, and their final run came in the fourth to make it a 4-0 game.
Saint Martin's struck in the sixth, starting with an RBI double to left center from
Britney Patrick, scoring
Jaeden Ells. Later in the inning,
Devyn Connolly brought in the second run of the game with a single to right center.
However, the rally ended in the sixth as the fell to Chico State.
The Saints got on the board first against San Francisco State, with Connolly striking again, this time a two RBI double to left center, scoring
Malia Pinder and
Olivia Schmidt.
But the Saints were unable to quiet the Gators' bats long as SFSU took the lead in the third inning. San Francisco State never gave up the lead and closed the game in the sixth inning.
Saint Martin's plays their final game of the Desert Stinger at 8:30 AM against Minot State tomorrow.
