LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's volleyball team (12-7, 5-4 GNAC) took care of business on Tuesday night with a convincing 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-22) win over Linfield University (7-11, 3-7 NWC). The middle duo of
Maddy Gooding and
Jennifer Soha cleared the way for the win thanks to 14 kills from Soha, while Gooding grabbed seven aces and six kills.
SMU hit 303 on the night with every active player getting time on the court. Another convincing number was the total of 15 aces with the Wildcats getting none in return. Apart from Gooding's seven (which ties an SMU record for most aces in a single match),
Emily Garten and
Karla Soto each had two.
Sirena Peredo had double-digit kills with 10, while Abbey Halstead led the back row with 14 digs. Soto, per usual tallied a solid number of assists with 32, while
Kamara White added five.
The Saints will have Thursday off before hosting Western Oregon at home with a 5 PM start time this Saturday, October 21
st. With a win against the Wolves, the Saints would clinch the most GNAC wins in a single season in school history.
