Saints Men’s Basketball Reaches Highest Ranking in SMU History

LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's men's basketball team (5-0) has set a new standard for SMU athletics with the highest ranking in school history, coming in at No. 4 in the D2 College Sports Communicators poll, No. 5 in the CBB Nation poll, and No. 6 in the NABC poll. All of those marks top the No. 8 ranking that the 2018-2019 team reached heading into the postseason in the spring of 2019.

Head Coach Aaron Landon was proud of the early season success that the team has had, but knows polls still mean very little at this point. "I think it's great that we're drawing positive attention to this wonderful university, but for our team the rankings don't mean anything this early," said Landon, "I love our group, and playing these road games is helping us grow more than anything else we could be doing right now. We're just trying to figure out how to win a tough road game today and not get caught up in early rankings."

The Saints will now have an even bigger target on their back as they continue their non-conference schedule with a battle tonight, Tuesday, November 21st at 7:30 PM, against Dominican University in San Rafael.
