ALASKA – Emily Garten led the way for the Saint Martin's women's volleyball team as they finished off the Alaska part of their schedule with a loss to Alaska Anchorage and a win over Fairbanks. Thanks to her 27 total kills on the week, Garten was named as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Garten bolstered the charge in the dominating 3-0 win over Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday night. She tallied 13 kills and hit .393 whith only two errors on 28 total attacks.
Jennifer Soha hit .643 with nine kills and no errors, while
Emmy Hansen had eight kills and eight digs.
Sirena Peredo manned the back line strongly, as expected, getting 13 digs, while
Maddy Gooding was a beast at the net with four blocks.
Karla Soto dished out 38 assists to keep her staggering numbers sky high.
In the four set loss to UAA, Garten once again was atop the Saints with 14 kills and she also tallied four aces. Peredo had a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs, while libero Abbey Halstead had 17 digs. Soto had 42 assists in this affair.
The Saints round out their home schedule this week with clashes at Marcus Pavilion on Thursday and Saturday. Saturday marks Senior Day at 1 PM versus Western Washington.
