TEMECULA, Cali. - The Saint Martin's women's golf team recently competed in the San Marcos Shootout at the Temecula Creek Golf Club in Temecula, California. Despite facing some challenging conditions, the team finished with a final score of 636 after shooting 313 on day one and 323 on day two. Kelsie Inouye and Jada French both shot 157 to tie for 20th place, while Ashley Bruland was tied for 25th at 159. Kathryn Crimp came in 42nd with a score of 163, and Hannah White finished in 50th place with a score of 165.
Head Coach Anne Bahr was proud of the team's effort, saying, "The course was in great shape but the rough was thick as they hadn't been able to get the mowers on it due to weather conditions. I'm proud of our players for pushing through and grinding it out."
Bahr also noted the team's strong start in Round 1 and their great positioning heading into Round 2. Although they weren't quite able to capitalize, Bahr viewed the tournament as a great learning experience for the team, especially given that they played alongside two nationally ranked schools in the final pairing.
Looking ahead to the team's next event, Bahr expressed her excitement for the tournament, saying, "We're headed straight to Arizona for our next event, and I'm really looking forward to it. Our players know this course well, we're hitting the ball solid, and it's a great field of teams from across the region so it should be a good test!"
The team will tee off for the two day RJGA Palm Valley Classic starting March 31st in Goodyear, Arizona.
