Peredo Named All-Tournament Team as Saints Take Three in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Saint Martin's volleyball team (5-3) had another successful weekend as they tallied three wins at the Mountain Lion classic in Colorado Springs, falling only to No. 10 ranked Nebraska-Kearney. Saint Martins got wins over University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Western Colorado, and Bemidji State. Sirena Peredo was named to the all-tournament team as part of her incredible weekend.

A 3-1 win over UCCS is how it got started for the Saints. Peredo led the Saints in kills with 15, as Emmy Hansen was right behind with 12 and Emily Garten had 11. Karla Soto was dishing the ball around the court with 47 total assists while Abigail Halstead notched 14 digs. Peredo rounded out a double-double with 10 digs.

It was a clean 3-0 sweep over Western Colorado with Hansen and Peredo each getting 10 kills. Soto had 35 assists while Halstead had 10 digs. Hansen and Maddy Gooding kept the opposing offense at bay with four blocks each.

Bemidji State was the next opponent knocked down by Saint Martin's, and they did it four sets. Peredo was again, a dig machine with 13, while Garten led the way in kills with 15. Jennifer Soha had four blocks and Soto had 40 assists.

In the final game of the weekend, SMU was swept by the University of Nebraska-Kearney, ranked 10th in the nation. The Saints still had standout performances, though, from Garten with 12 kills, Soto with 28 assists, and Halstead with 10 digs.
