LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's women's volleyball team (6-4, 1-1 GNAC) dropped a contest Saturday afternoon 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-18) at home against Seattle Pacific University (8-2, 2-0 GNAC).
Karla Soto started off the game with an ace as the Saints jumped out to a 3-0 advantage thanks to a block from
Emmy Hansen and
Maddy Gooding followed up by a kill from Gooding. An
Emily Garten kill midway through the set put SMU up 17-13, but the Falcons would surge to surpass the Saints and take a 20-19 lead. A late
Sirena Peredo kill could not fend off a Falcon first set victory by a score of 25-22.
The Falcons rallied to take the next two sets as well which lifted them to the win.
Sirena Peredo led the way with a near double-double with 14 digs and nine kills.
Emily Garten had 10 kills, while Soto had 28 assists and two aces, and
Abigail Halstead had 12 digs.
The Saints are back in action on Tuesday when they head to Forest Grove, Oregon to take on D3 Pacific University. That match will start at 7 PM.
