LACEY, Wash. – In front of a raucous crowd at Marcus Pavilion on Thursday night, the Saint Martin's women's basketball team came up just short battling with #14/#21 Western Washington University. It was a fight to the end as the Saints just came one shot short, falling 52-49.
It was a defensive first half and especially first quarter, with the Saints suffocating the Western Washington offense, holding them to just six points in quarter number one. Both sides improved upon their scoring each frame with the Saints rallying for 22 in the fourth.
Kiana Rios came off the bench for a hard fought 16 points, while
Anjel Galbraith scored 11. The Saints forced 21 total turnovers and had three blocks.
SMU is back in action at home on Saturday with a battle versus Simon Fraser. That tipoff is slated for 3 PM.
