Burrell Saves 10 in Scoreless Contest

SMU Women's Soccer would draw against Seattle Pacific on Thursday, October 10th, 0-0.

LACEY, WA Saint Martin's Women's Soccer (1-8-1, 1-3-1 GNAC) would host the Seattle Pacific Falcons in what turned out to be a defensive showdown at the SMU Soccer Field.

Keilee Silva and Payton Aselton would serve as the defensive anchors for the Saints, contesting any Falcons that would make their way up the field. Seattle Pacific would keep the pressure on the Saints with eight shots attempted in the first half but would continue to get snuffed out by the defensive unit and senior goalkeeper Flavia Burrell, who would have 10 saves during the match with no goals allowed in one of her best performances of the season. Burrell's standout performance would prove to be even more crucial to the final result, as the Saints would not be able to score any goals during the match.

Though the Saints could not find the back of the net, forward Eve Charles would showcase her speed and aggressiveness while recording a shot on goal. The offensive effort would be supplemented by Inara Lopes De Andrade and Hinata Kojima, who would do their best to put the Saints in a position to score. Annika Akiona would also provide a spark to the offense, winning multiple contested balls that would set up SMU well to be on the attack. Despite both team's best offensive efforts, the final result would be a 0-0 draw. This would mark the first tie of the season and break a two-game losing streak for the Saints.

The Saints Women's Soccer team will face off against Montana State Billings at the SMU Soccer Field on Saturday, October 12th at 1:00 PM. Get tickets here.
