LACEY, WA — A familiar face is back inside Marcus Pavilion with Hunter Sipe joining the Men's Basketball coaching staff.
Sipe was a standout wing for Saint Martin's in 2022-23, a banner year in which he helped drive the Saints to a second-consecutive GNAC Championship. Saint Martin's finished the year with a 24-7 record, earning a number-four seed in the NCAA Tournament. During his five seasons of college basketball, Sipe was part of four conference championship teams. He won two West Region Championships at SPSCC, a GSAC Championship in 2019-20 at Westmont College (CA), then returned home to win a GNAC title at Saint Martin's in 2022-23.
Hunter has tremendous familiarity with the Saint Martin's coaching staff. In 2017-18 Sipe began his college career at South Puget Sound Community College where he played for current Saints Head Coach
Aaron Landon and Associate Head Coach
Tyler Velasquez. Current Saint Martin's assistant coach
Wesley Reynolds was teammates with Sipe that season; a successful 23-8 campaign where SPSCC won an NWAC West Region Championship and reached the Elite Eight.
Landon expressed excitement toward his new hire with the season on the horizon:
"Hunter has known everybody on our staff for a long time, we all have a deep appreciation for who he is as a person and competitor. His influence on our student athletes will make all of them better, we're excited to have him back."
