LACEY, WA — Saint Martin's Men's Soccer (0-18) closed their season with two home contests and a road game a couple of weeks ago.

Their first contest fell to Northwest Nazarene on November 7th. The Saints would be competitive through a half of play, but the Nighthawks pieced together three consecutive goals. SMU's Cole Sullivan scored a late unassisted goal in the 84th minute bringing the score to 3-1. Ultimately, the Saints could not create enough scoring opportunities to make a late-game comeback and would fall to the Nighthawks.

The Men's Soccer team would close their season against the Simon Fraser Red Leafs — once at home, and once on the road. The Saints would host the first matchup for the team's Senior Day. SMU started the first half with an aggressive offensive attack with the first attempt being made in the seventh minute by Ethan Jud. SMU held Simon Fraser to only one goal attempt in the first half which goalkeeper Connor Leistiko saved. He would go on to have one of his best performances of the season and help shut down the SFU attack. In the second half, however, the Saints were unable to score on their eight goal attempts, and the Red Leafs would strike in the 67th minute to go up 1-0, which would also be the final score of the game. The seven Saints honored on Senior Day were Ethan Jud, Giovanni Gonzalez, Angel Alvarado-Fajardo, Zack Martin, Cole Kartchner, Sean Selanikio, and Gabe Stuard. We are grateful for their contributions and dedication to the Men's Soccer program, Saints Athletics, and the wider SMU community.

A week later, the Saints traveled north to close their season against Simon Fraser. SFU jumped to an early lead with a goal in the fifth minute. The Saints quickly responded with a goal in the 20th minute from Jud and a second goal five minutes later thanks to a Red Leafs own-goal. The Saints would not hold their 2-1 lead for long, as Simon Fraser came alive in the back half of the first half by scoring two goals. The Saints would be unable to overcome the deficit and would drop their final contest by a score of 4-2.

The Great Northwest Athletic Conference named Angel Alvarado-Fajardo as an All-Conference Honorable Mention for the second year in a row. The forward from Yakima, Washington started in 17 contests this season and recorded two goals for the Saints. He has been a staple to the Saints' offense and has been a major contributor to the Men's Soccer program over the past four years.
