LACEY, WA — The Saint Martin's Men's Golf team had a good end to the fall portion of their schedule and have a young core that will be ready to go for the spring season.

SMU would end the beginning half of their season with a trip to Hawai'i, where they would first compete in the Dennis Rose Invitational in Waimea. Carter Sheets and Christopher Gunlikson would lead the team during the tournament, both shooting an 80 in round one and 72 in round two to each score 152, which would be tied-best for 64th individually. Gavin Klein would be close behind with a 153, while Parker Sawatzky and Davis Sheets would round out the team's efforts with a 157 and 159 respectively. The squad's well-rounded effort would place them 16th out of 19 teams.

The Men's Golf team would have a quick turnaround after the two-day contest, as they would head to the Village Course at Waikoloa just days later to compete in the Hawai'i Pacific Shark Shootout. Klein would take charge for the Saints, shooting an impressive 150 to improve his results from earlier in the week. Carter would also improve his totals from the Dennis Rose Invitational and register a 151, sitting just behind Klein in the individual standings. Davis would record a 153, Sawatzky would finish just behind him at 154, and Gunlikson would round out the contest with a 162. As a team, the Saints would finish in 19th place.

Head Coach Anne Bahr is excited to see how the spring shapes up for this team, especially after building momentum with a roster that features only one returning golfer from last season:

"We learned a lot as a team this fall. We have a very new group, with only one returning player. I think we have a great plan of action for our off-season, and I know we'll be ready to compete come the spring."

The Men's Golf team will be back in action in March, with their first big competition being the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at the Corica Park Golf Course in Alameda, California. More details about the spring portion of the season will be released when available.
