Tacoma, WA – The Saints open this outdoor season with a bang, so many student athletes competed at the Ed Boitano Track and Field Invite and once again the Saints showed up and showed out.
The women Saints competed in many different events during the course of this meet. The first event was the women's 400-meter dash, this was ran by Madison Vu and Keiko Mills. Madison Vu placed third in the event with a time of 1:00.79 and Keiko Mills placed 13th with a time of 1:10.10. The 1500-meter dash was ran by Alisha Saucedo, she ran a time of 4:43.12 and placed first in the event. The 5000-meter dash was ran Kya Ramirez, she placed third in the event with a time of 19:01.12. The next women's event was Pole Vault, the Saint who participated in the event was Claire Skaggs, she placed second with a result of 3.21m. the following event was women's shot put, this event had three Saints competing. Placing 8th was Jocelyn Saribay with a distance of 10.84m, placing 10th was Taja Ward with a distance of 10.42m and finally placing 21 Taylor Dillon with a distance of 8.72m. The women's discus throw had three Saints, placing 5th was Taylor Dillion with a distance of 33.86m, placing 9th was Jocelyn Saribay with a distance of 31.01m and finally placing 21st Shy Yamasaki with a distance of 25.98m. The last women's event that has Saints participants was the women's hammer throw. The first-place finisher was Jocelyn Saribay with a distance of 43.99m, placing 6th was Taja Ward with a distance of 37.34m and lastly placing 10th was Vanessa Bledsoe with a distance of 34.63m. All the women Saints that compete fought hard through and through, they showed how their work has paid off. One Saint who really showed up and showed out was Jocelyn Saribay who earned GNAC's women's field athlete of the week with her outstanding performance during this weekends meet.
The men's team also competed in several events during this opener to the outdoor schedule. The men's 100-meter dash was ran by the Saints Ashton Rodriguez and Christian Le. Rodriguez placed 8th in the event with a time of 11.51 and Le placed 25th with a time of 11.80. The men's 200-meter dash was by SMU's Andrew Boyd who placed 9th in the event with a time of 23.47, the event was also ran by Christian Le who placed 18th with a time of 24.31. The men's 400-meter dash was ran by Zachary Franco, Connor Olmstead, and Matt Cooper. Franco placed 7th with a time of 52.21, Olmstead placed 9th with a time 52.90 and Cooper placed 11th with a time of 54.47. The 800-meter dash was ran by Kainalu Pagente who placed first in the event with a time of 1:55.89, following him was Timmy Higgins who placed 9th in the event with a time of 2:02.11, placing 14th was Noe Ortega (2:02.45), placing 18th Jaydon Blackburn (2:04.46), placing 26 Michael Harwell (2:11.80). Men's 1500-meter dash had two participants which included Noe Ortega and Jaydon Blackburn. Ortega placed 13th in the event with a time of 4:11.68, while Blackburn placed 19th with a time of 4:13.55. The men's 5000-meter dash was ran by Eli Dale, he placed 8th in the event with a time of 15:51.95. The men's 400-meter hurdles where ran by Noah Boyd who placed 6th with a time of 1:00.25. The men's pole vault was done by Ryan Doidge who placed 3rd with final score of 4.26m, Andrew Boyd who placed 10th with a final score of 3.66m and finally Zack Takeshita who placed 14th a with a final score of 3.36m. The long jump was done by Andrew Schulz who placed first in the event with a final distance od 6.62m. The final two Saints to compete were Ethan Guidry and Landon Armstrong who both competed in the men's javelin throw. Guidry placed 3rd with a final score of 53.32m and
Armstrong placed 9th with a final score od 48.24m. The men's student athlete who showed up and showed out was Andrew Schulz who earned GNAC Men's Field Athlete of the week with is first place win in the long jump event this weekend.
