Portland, OR – Griswold Stadium, surrounded by trees at Lewis & Clark College named the "Electric Forest" for a reason. The atmosphere is electric, and people come to run personal records. 
 
The Saints competed on both days but on Friday the only Saint to compete was Ethan Guidry who placed 4^th in the finals with a score of 53.26m.
 
This is what happened on 13 April for the Saint Martin's University Distance runners. The day started with Kya Ramirez and Sara Sabra running lifetime bests in the 10,000m. Kya ran a whopping 93 second lifetime best (4^th place) in 37:42.34 and Sara Sabra running a 10 second lifetime best (2^nd place) in 37:17.43. Both times automatically qualify for the GNAC Championships and rank Sara 8^th and Kya 13^th in the conference. In the 1500m, Cassidy Walchalk- Sloan placed 2^nd, running a national provisional qualifying time of 4:29.05, which ranks her 31^st in the nation and 2^nd in the GNAC. Cassidy came back later in the day and placed 5^th in the 800m. Alisha Saucedo, ran a personal record in the 1500m (5^thplace) in 4:38.09, which ranks her 10^th in the GNAC. Alisha then came back in the 800m (2^nd place), just missing out on the win by 0.3 seconds. In the 5000m, newcomer, Mira Jayarama, in only her 2^nd 5000m race ever, ran a personal record of 20:51.84

The Saints men's middle-distance freshman trio had quite the elctric day, with all running lifetime bests in all their races! Noe Ortega ran a 6 second personal record in 1500m (4:03.86) and then later ran a personal record (1:58.01) in the 800m. Francis (Timmy) Higgins, ran a 9 second personal record in the 1500m (4:06.82) and then had another breakthrough in the 800m (1:57.99), running his first personal best this year at that distance. Matt Cooper continued his streak of running personal records every week by running 1:59.73 in the 800m and almost winning his heat. Junior Kainalu Pagente, after a hard training week, put together his best 1500m/800m double of his career; running 3:58.68 in the 1500m (9^th place) and then coming back in the 800m, running 1:55.91, placing 7^th. Freshman Jaydon Blackburn capped an electric day by running his 2^nd fastest time ever in the 5000m.

The Saints are back in action this Saturday at Central Washington University.
