Monmouth, OR – Saint Martin's softball team has once again had an outstanding performance out in Monmouth Oregon. They took all four wins of the series and the GNAC softball player of the week was also the Saints #26 Heather Ebner.
The first game the Saints took off in runs and made a big splash to set the tone for the weekend. The first set of runs were earned in the top of the second. The first run was scored when #4 Kekai Schultz doubled to left field advancing #19 Olivia Matlock to third and scoring #7 Vanessa Smoke. The following run was scored when #26 Heather Ebner walked advancing #5 Destiny Conerly to second and Schultz to third, this also scored in Matlock. #10 Britney Patrick comes to the plate and singles through the right side advancing Ebner to third and scoring Conerly and Schultz. This gave the Saints the lead with four and WOU with two. The inning started with #23 Ashley Goodale singling down the left field line advancing Conerly to third. On an error Goodale advanced to second and Conerly scored on that error. Following that play Goodale stole third and then #26 Ebner singled through the right side, scoring Goodale. This makes the score for SMU six and WOU two at the end of the top of the fourth. In the top of the fifth inning Heather Ebner singled to left center, this advanced Goodale to second and Conerly advanced to third and scoring on error by the infield was Schultz. Patrick came up to the plate and singled to right field this advanced Ebner to second and Goodale to third. Patrick advanced to second on the throw and Ebner advanced to third while Goodale scored on an error by the catch. This was the last score of the inning give the Saints a bigger lead with nine and WOU with three. In the top of the fifth no runs were scored but Schultz doubled to left field. In the top of the 7th two more runs were scored both happened after #1 Shay Lopes singled to center field scoring #15 Shelby Lawson and #10 Britney Patrick. This ended the game with the Saints taking the win with 11 runs and WOU with three

The second game against Western Oregon the Saints once again went game mode and took another win. This gave them the sweep for Saturday. The Saints started out strong in the first inning, the start of the inning happened when Ebner Singled up the middle getting on base. Patrick and Schultz both walked which loaded the bases. #22 Amanda Peterson was then hit by the pitch, and this advanced Ebner to score. The second run was scored when all runs advanced on a while pitch by WOU and Patrick scored. The next two Saints walked which was Lawson and Smoke this advanced all runners scoring Schultz. This ended the scoring for top of the first leaving Saints up by three. In the bottom of the first WOU took the lead with four runs. The score remained the same till the top of the 4th when Goodale walked getting on base and then Heather Ebner doubling up the middle scoring Goodale. Patrick then came up to the plate and singled through the right-side scoring Ebner. Schultz reached on a fielder's choice advancing Patrick to second, then Peterson walked advancing Schultz and Patrick to scoring positions. Lawson then came up to bat singling up the middle advancing Peterson, scoring Schultz and
Patrick. This ended the scoring for the Saints in the top of the fourth leaving the score SMU seven and WOU with four. The final run was scored in the top of the seventh when #27 Mia Zachary reached on a throwing error by second base. Zachary then advanced on the pitch and stole third. Matlock then pinch hit for Conerly, Matlock reached on fielder's choice scoring Zachary unearned. This ended the scoring for the game and the Saints came out on top again with eight and WOU with four.

The third game was played Sunday afternoon, the Saints battled and took the game. In the top of the first inning the Saints start out with Ebner walking getting on base. After Ebner, #10 Britney Patrick doubled to left field and advanced to third on the throw, scoring Ebner. Schultz flied out but Patrick scored. This left the Saints earning two runs in the top of the first. The score remained this way through the game and the Saints won with two and WOU with zero.

The last matchup between the Saints and the wolves was at 2pm on Sunday. SMU remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when #19 Olivia Matlock doubled to right center. #1 Shay Lopes was now up and she doubled to right center and scored Matlock to get the first run of the game for the Saints. The top of the fifth was scoreless for the Saints but Ebner doubled to left field. The next top of the sixth the Saints started when Lawson was walked, Lawson was able to steal second and advanced to third on a ground out by Smoke. Conerly singled up the middle scoring Lawson. Conerly steals second and Goodale walks, Ebner then walks and Goodale advances to second and Conerly to third. Patrick then comes up to bat and walks advancing all runners and scores Conerly. Schultz walks next and all runners advance, this score Goodale. This leaves SMU with four and WOU with three. After the top of the sixth neither team managed to score again, giving the Saints the fourth win of the series and SMU wins the sweep for the weekend.
