Saints Men’s Basketball heads to Hawaii to open 2025-26 season

The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball team is set to open the 2025-26 season this week, competing at the GNAC-PacWest Conference Challenge on Nov. 14-15 in Hilo, Hawaii. SMU will face Westmont at 7 p.m. PT on Nov. 14 and Hawaii Hilo at 7 p.m. PT on Nov. 15

The Saints are coming off a 19-12 season last year, and were selected fourth in the 2025-26 GNAC Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll.

SAINT NOTES

  • Aaron Landon leads the Saints in his 7th year as the program's head coach. The 2022 GNAC Coach of the Year had led the Saints to four straight winning seasons.
  • Last season, the Saints finished 19-12 overall and 8-10 in GNAC play. SMU took victories against both Westmont and Hawaii Hilo at the 2024 GNAC-PacWest Conference Challenge in Billings, Montana.
  • The Saints return five players from last year's roster, while adding seven transfers and four freshmen.
  • Returners Dae'Kwon Watson and Diego Trejo-Delgado were both named GNAC Preseason All-Conference. In eight games played last season, Watson averaged 14.5 points per game, shooting 44.8% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range. Trejo-Delgado averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest for SMU last season, while dishing out 2.1 assists per game.
