SEATTLE, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Volleyball team lost its road GNAC matchup at Seattle Pacific by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, November 13.
Each set was closely contested, as the Saints held late in both the first and third sets, but the Falcons ultimately prevailed and won in a sweep. The loss dropped SMU's record to 12-12 overall and 5-11 in GNAC play.
How it Happened
- The first set was neck-and-neck, as neither team led by more than three points at any moment in the frame. A kill by Emmy Hansen put the Saints up 22-21 late, but the Falcons rallied four straight points to close out the set and win 25-22. Saint Martin's hit .343% as a team in the first set, the highest of the match for the Saints.
- SMU led 13-11 midway through the second set, but a huge 11-1 run by SPU put the Saints behind 22-14. The Saints put together a 5-2 rally to come within 24-19, but the Falcons won the final point to go ahead 2-0 in the match.
- A 4-0 run early on put Saint Martin's ahead 9-6 in the third set, but both teams traded leads midway through after a flurry of runs by both sides. An emphatic 5-0 run put the Saints ahead 19-16 late, and SMU later extended the advantage to 21-17. After pulling ahead 23-20 with a service ace from Zoey Crimin, the Falcons responded with a 5-0 run to stun the Saints and take a 25-23 win in the third set, as SMU suffered a 3-0 loss.
