CHICO, Calif. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball team was victorious on the road at Chico State by a score of 81-64 on Saturday, November 29.
The Saints shot 43.7% as a team and were led by a season-high 23 points from Diego Trejo-Delgado. The win improved SMU's record to 5-2 on the season.
How It Happened
First Half
- Chico State jumped out to a 6-0 lead, before the Saints rallied to capture a 10-9 advantage with 15:17 remaining in the first half, as a three-pointer by Kaden Hansen gave SMU its first lead of the game.
- A 10-0 run midway through the first half saw the Saints build a 24-15 lead with 9:10 left in the first.
- SMU ended the half on a 13-2 run, going into the break leading 39-23. The Saints shot 44.83% in the first half.
Second Half
- The Saints continued their momentum into the second half, pushing the lead to 47-27 with 16:58 on the clock with a fastbreak layup from Mark Clegg Jr.
- SMU saw its lead reach as much as 26 points, as the Saints maintained a steady lead and continued to shoot well from the field — Saint Martin's went 18-42 (42.86%) from the field in the second half.
- Chico State trimmed the lead to 15 at the closest, as the Saints held on to cruise to an 81-64 victory.
Top Performers
- Diego Trejo-Delgado led the Saints with 23 points, doing so off 9-17 shooting. He added four rebounds and one assist.
- Mark Clegg Jr. scored 16 points off 7-11 shooting, while adding six rebounds and two assists.
- Anthony Simo and Patrick Kilfoil each scored 10 points.
- Kaden Hansen led the Saints with seven rebounds, while also adding seven points and three assists.
