MONMOUTH, Ore. — The Saint Martin's Women's Soccer team played out a 1-1 draw at No. 20 Western Oregon on Thursday, November 6 in Monmouth, Oregon.
After falling behind 1-0 early in the second half, Angely Puga scored an equalizer to secure one point for the Saints on the road against a top-25 opponent.
How It Happened
- The Saints were out-shot 6-0 in the first half, but three saves from goalkeeper Sam Escobar helped keep the Wolves off the board for a 0-0 first half.
- After Brooke Streeter recorded the Saints' first shot of the game in the 50th minute, a shot on target, Western Oregon responded in the 52nd minute with an unassisted goal by Olivia Boger.
- Escobar fended off another shot on goal in the 55th minute, before the Saints found an equalizer in the 61st minute off the foot of Angely Puga. The goal is the first of the year for Puga.
- In the remaining 29 minutes, Escobar made three more saves to prevent the Wolves from finding a second goal. The Saints put up three more shots, two of which were shots on goal by Brooke Streeter, but also were unable to find a game-winner, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
