LACEY, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball team notched another victory tonight, defeating Pacific 108-66 on Tuesday, December 16 at Marcus Pavilion.
The Saints saw five players score in double figures, highlighting another strong offensive performance. The win, which is the sixth straight for Saint Martin's, improved the team' record to 9-2 overall.
The 108-point performance by the Saints is the first time the team has put up back-to-back 100-point games since December of 2023.
How It Happened
First Half
- The Saints built a narrow lead in the opening stages, before a 6-0 run by the Boxers put Pacific up 15-13 with 13:16 remaining in the first half.
- Saint Martin's responded with a burst of offense, utilizing a 7-0 run to capture a 20-15 lead with 12:18 on the clock. The run stretched to 12-2, as the Saints pulled ahead 27-17 halfway through the first 20 minutes of game action.
- The Boxers later came back within one possession, before a 14-2 run by the Saints put the home team up by double figures (42-28) with 5:15 remaining in the half.
- Saint Martin's ended the half on a 12-0 run, taking a 61-40 lead into halftime.
- Patrick Kilfoil and Diego Trejo-Delgado led the Saints with 13 points each in the first half.
- The Saints shot 24-40 (60%) from the field and 8-19 (42.1%) from three-point range in the first half.
Second Half
- Saint Martin's shot 16-34 (47.06%) from the field in the second half and saw the lead group by 21 points. After allowing 46 points in the first half, the Saints clamped the Boxers defensively, limiting Pacific to 12-32 (37.5%) from the field and 1-9 (11.11%) shooting from beyond the arc, holding a 47-26 advantage in second-half scoring.
- An 8-0 run midway through the second half saw the Saints push their lead to 30 points (84-54) with 11:52 on the clock.
- Another 9-0 run later in the second half put the Saints up 101-64 with 4:54 remaining in regulation.
- The Saints continued their strong offensive effort through the final whistle, going on to win 108-66.
