LACEY, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball team was victorious in its final game of the 2025 calendar year, defeating Pacific Lutheran 87-65 at Marcus Pavilion on Thursday, December 18
The Saints got off to an incredibly hot start to the game, opening the matchup on a 21-0 run that set the tone for the remainder of the contest. The win improved the Saints' record to 10-2 on the year, improving the team's winning streak to seven straight.
How It Happened
First Half
- The Saints came out firing, embarking on a 13-0 run out of the gates that prompted Pacific Lutheran to burn its first timeout. Saint Martin's kept the momentum going, stretching the run to 18-0 and prompting PLU to use its second timeout with 15:46 on the clock.
- The run by the Saints stretched to 21-0, with the team shooting 8-11 out of the gates.
- Saint Martin's increased its lead to 31-4 at the 10-minute mark, shooting 70.6% from the field.
- Saint Martin's pushed its lead to 30 points at the 2:34 mark of the first half, as Mark Clegg Jr. hit a three-pointer to put the Saints up 48-18.
- The Saints went into halftime leading 52-29, shooting 20-34 (58.8%) from the field and 12-17 (70.6%) from beyond the arc.
- The Saints limited the Lutes to 5-18 (27.8%) from three-point range, after starting the game 0-12.
Second Half
- The Lutes started the half on a 6-2 run, trimming the Saint Martin's lead to 19 (54-35). The Saints responded with a 7-0 run of their own, pushing the lead back to 61-35 with 15:35 on the clock.
- The Saints held a steady advantage in the second half, leading 65-44 with 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
- Late in the second half, the Saints went on an 8-0 run to go up 83-53 with 5:58 on the clock — Jahmarian Forrester hit a three-pointer, Omer Ege Peksari hit two free-throws, and Patrick Kilfoil converted a transition three-pointer.
- The Lutes hit two late three-pointers, but the Saints held on to win comfortably, 87-65 at the final whistle.
Top Performers
- Four Saints scored in double figures, led by 15-point performances from Mark Clegg Jr. and Dae'Kwon Watson. Patrick Kilfioil scored 12 points and Kaden Hansen added 11.
- Anthony Simo led Saint Martin's with seven rebounds.
