LACEY, Wash. — Saint Martin's Baseball (3-46, 3-29 GNAC) wrapped up their 2025 campaign at home against the Western Oregon Wolves, where they would win one of the four contests in the series.
The Saints would kick off the stretch with an early run from
Hunter Sasaki in the first contest, providing an offensive spark for the team. Despite the early run, the Wolves locked in on the mound and held SMU to just one run, handing the Saints a 5-1 loss to open the series in a dominant defensive performance. SMU would turn right around and be ready to go for the second game, however, as the offense would come to life to propel the team to their third win of the season.
Peter Hollabaugh led the charge with three RBIs, while
Evan Nicol added two more to the total.
Isaac Hoag was unstoppable at the plate, racking up four hits and scoring four times.
Hunter Sasaki continued his strong series with three runs scored as the Saints exploded for 10 runs to secure a 10-5 victory and even the series.
Game three would see the Saints continue their offensive streak from the previous day, but the Wolves outpaced them in a high-scoring battle.
Kyle Schabot stood out with two RBIs and two runs scored while
AJ Killion chipped in with two RBIs of his own. Hollabaugh added two runs, continuing his consistent production, but the Saints couldn't hold off WOU's late-game surge and would fall, 12-7. The series finale proved difficult for the Saints with Western Oregon's offense putting up 17 runs, but Hollabaugh would get
Alex Hartnett across the plate and on the board to avoid the shutout. The Saints would close the season with a 17-1 loss.
The Saints would honor seven seniors in their final series of the season as
Damon Ingram,
Collin Bell,
Michael Grubb,
Isaiah Mayfield-Prieto,
Aaron Nease,
AJ Killion, and
Hunter Sasaki would take the field for the final time in an SMU uniform. We thank them for their contributions to the program during their time in Lacey. Following the conclusion of the season, the GNAC would award six Saints with All-Conference Honors, with
Alex Hartnett and
Peter Hollabaugh being named to the Second Team, while
Isaac Hoag,
Wyatt Ishii,
Evan Nicol, and
Kyle Schabot would be named Honorable Mention.
