KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Saint Martin's Women's Volleyball team went 2-0 on Day 1 of the Javelina Volleyball Classic in Kingsville, Texas on Friday, September 12.
The Saints defeated Lake Erie 3-0, before following up with another 3-0 victory against Southern Arkansas. The wins improved SMU's record on the season to 5-1.

How It Happened
- The Saints hit .333% in the first frame and capitalized off a late 4-0 run that put SMU ahead 22-16. Emily Garten closed the set with a service ace, giving the Saints a 25-19 win in the first frame.
- SMU totaled its best hitting percentage of the game in the second set, going .424%. After trailing early and enduring a back-and-forth set, the Saints again capitalized off a 4-0 run late in the frame that put the team up 19-15. SMU pulled away to win 25-18, with a kill by Zoey Crimin cementing the frame and putting the Saints up two sets to none.
- A big run midway through the set by Lake Erie saw Saint Martin's fall behind 15-12, but the Saints managed to climb back into contention and go on a huge run to close the frame — SMU trailed 15-20, before scoring 10 of the next 11 points to run off with a 25-21 victory, winning the match in three sets.

- Another close set, the second set was decided by a late run for the Saints. Down 20-19, SMU rallied a 6-1 run to close out the frame, winning 25-21.
- The third set was the most lopsided of the match, as the Saints jumped out to a 10-3 lead out of the gates and never looked back. SMU hit .471% in the set and walked off with a 25-13 win to take the match in three sets.
