MONMOUTH, Ore. — The Saint Martin's Men's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Cal Poly Humboldt in Monmouth, Oregon on Thursday, September 18.
The Saints held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal ant totaled 11 shots, but two first-half goals by the Lumberjacks made the difference in the match.
How It Happened
- Cal Poly Humbold held an 8-1 advantage in shots in the first half, and saw two goals in the first 45 muntes. Erwin Manibusan Jr. scored in the 14th minute, putting the Saints behind 1-0.
- Nathan Murff extended the Lumberjacks' lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute, as SMU went into halftime trailing 2-0.
- In the second half, the Saints managed five corner kicks and drew eight fouls by Cal Poly Humboldt. SMU saw an increase in shots from the first half, holding a 10-3 advantage in the final 45 minutes.
