CHADRON, Neb. —The Saint Martin's Volleyball program opened the 2025 season with a 3-0 victory on the road against Chadron State at the Eagle Classic in Chadron, Nebraska on Thursday, September 4.

The win marked the first for Head Coach Haley Domeck in her first season as Saints head coach. 

How it Happened

• The Saints won the opening set 25-17, behind four kills each from Emily Garten and Emmy Hansen. After the set went back-and-forth toward a 11-11 tie, a 5-1 run by the Saints put SMU ahead. Saint Martin's closed the set on a 7-1 run to win the first set.
• In the second set, Saint Martin's built a 7-2 lead out of the gates, before an eventual 8-0 run by Chadron State flipped the script. After the Saints fell behind 16-12, SMU fought back to tie the game at 17-17. After a back-and-forth end to the set, the Saints pulled ahead to win the frame 26-24 and extend the lead to two sets to none.
• The Saints jumped out to a 10-3 lead early in the third set, and held a steady lead throughout the frame. SMU led by as much as 11 points, holding on to comfortably win 25-14.

Top Performers

• Emily Garten led the Saints with 11 kills, while Emmy Hansen finished with 10.
• Sophie Fast recorded 24 assists in her debut with the Saints.
• Garten and Tiffany Lam led SMU with 10 digs each.

Team Stats

• Saint Martin's recorded its best hitting percentage in the third frame, going .345. 
• The Saints totaled 15 blocks, holding a 15-5 advantage defensively on the net.
