BURNABY, B.C. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball team notched an 81-73 victory at Simon Fraser, overcoming a 14-point deficit to steal a GNAC road game on Thursday, February 12.
The Saints were guided by a massive team rebounding advantage and a 32-point scoring effort by Kaden Hansen, out-scoring Simon Fraser 50-32 in the second half to come away with an eight-point victory. The victory improved the Saints' record to 19-4 overall and 11-2 in GNAC play.
How It Happened
First Half
- The Saints took an early 8-4 lead with 17:47 on the clock, as Jahmarian Forrester hit a three-pointer and layup back-to-back.
- Simon Fraser took a 10-9 lead at 15:43, as the Red Leafs held a steady lead early on.
- At the 12:21 mark, Jahmarian Forrester hit a three-pointer to retake a 16-14 lead.
- After the Red Leafs pulled ahead by five, a three-pointer by Kaden Hansen trimmed the deficit to 29-27.
- Simon Fraser responded with three straight three-pointers, as Saint Martin's fell behind 38-27 with 3:32 left in the first half.
- The Saints went into halftime trailing 41-31.
- Kaden Hansen had 16 points in the first half, hitting four three-pointers.

Second Half
- Diego Trejo-Delgado opened the second-half scoring with a layup, but Simon Fraser later responded with a three-pointer to go up 44-33 with 18:-4 on the clock.
- Both teams exchanged a flurry of baskets, before a three-pointer by the Red Leafs extended the Saints' deficit to 51-37 with 15:41 to go.
- The Saints bounced back with a 10-0 run that was capped off by two straight Kaden Hansen three-pointers, pushing within 51-47 with 13:16 on the clock.
- Both teams exchanged points in the following possessions, as Saint Martin's pulled back one possession. An and-one by Kaden Hansend pushed the score to 55-53 Red Leafs at the 11:59 media timeout.
- After Simon Fraser hit a three-pointer shortly after the media timeout, a layup by Diego Trejo-Delgado and three-pointer by Kaden Hansen put the Saints within one point (57-58) with 9:20 left in regulation.
- With 7:42 to go, the Saints retook the lead as a layup by Pablo Navarro put the Saints up 61-60.
- Back-to-back three-points by Simon Fraser put the Saints down 66-61 with 6:27 on the clock.

- With 1:31 on the clock and the game tied at 73-73, Kaden Hansen was fouled on a three-pointer. He converted all three to put Saint Martin's ahead 76-73.
- After a defensive hold by the Saints, Diego Trejo-Delgado made an emphatic dunk to put the Saints up 78-73 with 47 seconds left in the game.
- Another defensive stop on the next possession all but sealed the deal, as the Saints held on to win 81-73.
Top Performers
- Kaden Hansen led the way with 32 points, shooting 11-24 (45.8) from the field and 6-13 (46.2%) from three-point range. The game is Hansen's second 30-point performance of the season.
- Diego Trejo-Delgado scored 21 points and added eight rebounds and four assists.
- Pablo Navarro tallied 12 points and five rebounds.
