Saints take down Fairbanks in highest scoring effort of the season, notch 13th GNAC win

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The Saint Martin's Women's Basketball team defeated Alaska Fairbanks 99-59 at the Patty Center in Fairbanks, Alaska on Thursday, February 27, notching the team's 13th GNAC win of the season.

The 99-point performance is the highest scoring effort of the season for the Saints, show shot a stellar 49% from the field as a team. The win improved the Saints' record to 17-9 overall and 13-4 in GNAC play.

How It Happened
First Quarter

  • The Saints started off the game on an 8-2 run, capped off by a corner three-pointer from Laiken Hill at the 7:42 mark. Hill assisted a fast break layup by Avery Oaster one possession later, prompting a Nanooks timeout at 6:59.
  • The Nanooks and Saints exchanged three-pointers midway through the frame, as Kasey Booster put Saint Martin's up 16-5 with 5:17 on the clock.
  • Three-pointers by Jada Travis and Kasey Booster at the 3:00 and 2:18 marks put the Saints ahead 22-7.
  • Saint Martin's carried a 25-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, shooting 53.3% from the field.

Second Quarter

  • Both teams shot 41% in the second quarter, but the Saints out-scored the Nanook 22-11 to take a commanding 25-point lead into halftime.
