Saints Softball starts off 6-0 at THE Spring Games

BARTOW, Fla. — The Saint Martin's Softball team has notched six victories in three days at the 2026 THE Spring Games in Bartow, Florida.

The Saints have out-scored opponents 43-6 through six games, and won three of the six games in five-inning mercy rules.

Saint Martin's 9, Lynn University 1 (5 Innings)

  • Bridget Johnson picked up the win in the first game of the tournament, throwing 4.0 innings and allowing one unearned run off three hits. She struck out two batters.
  • The Saints scored two runs in each of the first two innings, one in the third, and two in the fourth and fifth to rattle off a 9-1 win.
  • Heather Ebner went 2-2 with three runs and two RBIs.
  • Kaylee Walker went 3-4 with one run and one RBI.

Saint Martin's 2, Northwood 0

  • In a low-scoring battle, Kayla Vaughan and Amanda Peterson pitched a combined shutout, with Vaughan going 5.0 innings and allowing just two hits, striking out five batters. Amanda Peterson pitched two scoreless innings in relief and picked up the save.
  • In the second inning, an RBI triple by Haley Agena scored Elissa Dewees to put Saint Martin's up 1-0.
  • Heather Ebner doubled the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single in the fourth inning to score Dewees.
  • Ebner went 3-3 with one RBI.
  • Dewees went 1-2 with two runs.

Saint Martin's 6, Grand Valley State 3

  • The first inning was high scoring, as Grand Valley built a 3-0 lead in the top of the frame with a two-RBI single and groundout that scored a run.
  • The Saints responded with three runs in the bottom of the first, as Kaylee Walker, Taylor Orgeles, and Holland Jensen each tallied RBI hits to tie the game at 3-3.
  • In the bottom of the second, Saint Martin's added three more runs to build a 6-3 lead, an advantage that ultimately held through the final out. Orgeles scored Dewees on a sacrifice hit, before Layla Royle hit a two-RBI single to score Ebner and Haley Agena.
  • Kaylee Walker, Heather Ebner, Layla Royle, and Elissa Dewees each recorded two-hit games.
  • Bridget Johnson picked up the win, throwing 4.2 innings and striking out two batters. She allowed one earned run off three hits.

Saint Martin's 6, California University of Pennsylvania 1

  • The Saints took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, as Kaylee Walker reached on an error that scored Shelby Lawson.
  • The Vulcans tied the score at 1-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the second.
  • Saint Martin's pushed ahead in the top of the third inning, scoring three runs off a two-RBI single from Kaylee Walker and an RBI double from Taylor Orgeles.
  • A two-RBI homer by Shelby Lawson in the top of the seventh sealed the deal for the Saints, who won 6-1.
  • Shelby Lawson went 2-3 with three runs and two RBIs.
  • Kaylee Walker went 2-4 and had two RBIs and one run.

Saint Martin's 9, Edinboro 1 (5 Innings)

  • The Saints started off the game with a four-run first inning, as Jennessy Lopez hit a two-RBI double, Faith Prosch hit an RBI single, and Haley Agena scored on a wild pitch.
  • Edinboro scored a run in the bottom of the first, but Keagan Norfleet kept the Scots off the board for the ensuing four innings, earning the win off 5.0 innings pitched, allowing just one unearned run off four hits allowed.
  • The Saints scored two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth, earning a 9-1 victory.
  • Heather Ebner went 4-4 with three RBIs and two runs.
  • Haley Agena and Shelby Lawson each scored two runs.
  • Jennessy Lopez tallied two RBIs and one run.

Saint Martin's 11, Clarion 0 (5 Innings)

  • A massive nine-run first inning set the tone for the Saints, who walked off with an 11-0 victory in five innings. The huge rally saw the Saints score seven runs with just one out on the board, before circling through the entire lineup and putting up nine runs in the inning.
  • The Saints added another two runs in the bottom of the third, pushing the advantage to 11-0.
  • Bridget Johnson picked up another win, throwing three scoreless innings in which she allowed no runs and just one hit.
  • Heidi Leitz and Amanda Peterson each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
  • Haley Agena went 2-3 with three runs and two RBIs.
  • Shelby Lawson went 2-3 with one run.
  • Six different Saints recorded a hit and nine scored runs.
