Saints Men’s Basketball set to compete in NCAA West Regionals

HAYWARD, Calif. — The Saint Martin's Men's Basketball is set to continue its historic run, competing in the NCAA Tournament West Region in Hayward, California.

The Saints, who were ranked No. 21 in the final NABC regular season poll, enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the West Region and will face Hawaii Pacific in the first round at 2:30 p.m. on March 13.

Saint Martin's enters the tournament fresh off its first GNAC Tournament Championship title in program history, as well as the GNAC Regular Season championship. Coming into the tournament with a 25-5 record, the Saints are one win away from tying a program record for most wins in a season as a Division II program.

Upon advancing past the NCAA West Regional first round, the Saints would play in the NCAA West Regional Semifinals on March 14 at 5 p.m., followed by the NCAA West Regional Finals on March 16 at 7 p.m.

SAINT NOTES

  • Saint Martin's cruised through the GNAC Tournament en route to the first tournament championship in program history, defeating Central Washington 87-68 in the semifinals and Alaska Anchorage 74-62 in the championship game.
    • Patrick Kilfoil scored 23 points in the championship game, becoming the first ever freshman to win GNAC Tournament MVP.
  • The Saints earned a 15-3 record in GNAC play this year to clinch the GNAC Regular Season Championship. The coaching staff of Aaron Landon, Tyler Velasquez, and Wesley Reynolds are the only staff in GNAC history to win three outright regular season titles.
  • Earlier this year, the Saints embarked on a 14-game winning streak, a program record.
  • As a team, the Saints rank first in the GNAC and fourth in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to 39% from the field. Saint Martin's limits opponents to 66.1 points per game, which ranks second in the GNAC and 18th among all Division II schools. On the perimeter, the Saints limit opponents to 29.5% three-point shooting, a mark that leads the GNAC and ranks 15th in the nation.
  • Saint Martin's dominates the boards, leading the GNAC and ranking eighth in Division II with a +8.1 rebounding margin. THe Saints lead the conference and rank sixth in the country with 41.7 rebounds per game.
  • Kaden Hansen has led the way for the Saints this season, leading the GNAC in regular season scoring (20.1 ppg) and earning GNAC Player of the Year. Hansen also leads the GNAC with 2.81 made three-pointers per game and an 86.7% free-throw percentage.
  • Hawaii Pacific enters the tournament as the No. 7 seed in the West Region, holding an overall record of 18-11 and a 13-9 spread in PacWest play. The Sharks lost to Point Loma in the PacWest championship game. Notably, Hawaii Pacific defeated Division I Boise State in the team's 2025-26 season opener.
