Blackburn and Pedro set school records as Saints conclude regular season at WWU

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Track & Field program concluded the regular season at the Halsell & Vernacchia Invitational in Bellingham, Washington on April 24-25.

In total, the Saints saw 13 top-10 finishes and five program all-time top10 marks, highlighted by new school records by Janess Blackburn and Gage Pedro.

How It Happened

  • In women's discus, Janess Blackburn threw 44.98 meters — Blackburn placed first in the event and set a new school record, surpassing her own record from earlier in the season. She also placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.29 meters, which ranks seventh all-time in the Saint Martin's record book.
  • Gage Pedro set a new school record in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 59.23 meters — he placed second in the event. Pedro also placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 46.91 meters.
  • In long jump, Lamarcus Hinton placed fifth with a jump of 6.65 meters, a mark that ranks fifth all-time in the Saint Martin's record book.
  • Alberta Samuelu placed fifth in the women's shot put, throwing 12.45 meters — the throw ranks eighth all-time in the Saint Martin's record book.
  • Hakim Zongo placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.91 meters.
  • In women's triple jump, Alyssa Duncan placed sixth with a jump of 10.84 meters.
  • Hugh Ruttledge placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.15.
  • In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Reid Crumley placed ninth with a time of 57.20, ranking seventh in the Saint Martin's record book.
  • Zachary Mandlin placed ninth in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.20 meters.
  • In the men's discus, Zander Peck placed ninth with a throw of 46.91 meters.
  • Lorenzo Zimmermann notched two program top-10 marks, clocking in at 11.15 in the 100 meters, which ranks 10th in the Saint Martin's record book. In the 200 meters, Zimmermann recorded a 22.36, which ranks eighth all-time in the Saints record book.

The Saints will travel to the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place in Ellensburg on May 4-5.
