LACEY, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Women's Soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Eastern Oregon in the team's 2026 season debut at Saints Soccer Field on Thursday, August 27.
The Saints tallied seven total shots and five shots on goal, but ultimately were unable to find the back of the net in the team's season debut.
How It Happened
- The first half went scoreless, as Saint Martin's goalkeeper Sam Escobar recorded three saves in the first 30 minutes to keep the Mountaineers off the board.
- The Saints saw shots on goal Leah Kalal, Leia Tupper and Madison Strother in the first half, but the game went into halftime at 0-0.
- Neither team saw a shot on goal during the first 25 minutes of the second half, until Sam Escobar recorded saves in the 71st and 72nd minutes to keep the game level.
- Scotlyn Lecomte (75th) and Leia Tupper (80th) each recorded shots on goal late in the scoreless tie, but Eastern Oregon tipped the game in the Mountaineers' favor in the 84th minute, as Holly Dorhauer scored off an assist from Cassidy Harding, putting the Saints behind 1-0 late in the match.
- Saint Martin's was unable to find an equalizer, and fell 1-0 in the team's season debut.
