LACEY, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Men's Soccer team lost its home matchup against Simon Fraser 2-1 at Saints Soccer Field this Saturday, September 26.
The Saints took a first-half 1-0 lead, but two second-half goals by Simon Fraser tipped the scales. The defeat dropped the Saints' record to 4-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in GNAC play.
How It Happened
- Saint Martin's was out shot 6-3 in the first half, but Connor Leistiko saved the Red Leafs' only shot on target.
- In the 35th minute, Lukas Wexler found the back of the net off an assist from Xander Koenig, giving Saint Martin's a 1-0 lead. The advantage would hold through the halftime whistle.
- In the 51st minute, Leistiko saved a shot on goal to preserve the Saints' 1-0 advantage.
- After a series of shot attempts by Simon Fraser, the Red Leafs found an equalizer in the 69th minute with an unassisted goal from Daniel James Jackson.
- Later in the 79th minute, Daniel James Jackson scored again, this time off an assist from Leontios Zacharia to give the Red Leafs a 2-1 lead.
- Saint Martin's recorded one shot off target in the ensuing game time, but ultimately fell by a score of 2-1.
