ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Women's Soccer team lost its neutral-site non-conference match against UC Merced 4-0 in Ellensburg, Washington on Thursday, September 3.
The Bobcats held a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal, and scored two goals in each half to hand the Saints a 4-0 defeat. The loss dropped Saint Martin's record to 1-2 on the year.
How It Happened
- Saint Martin's tallied the first shot of the game, as Annika Akiona tallied a shot on goal that was saved in the sixth minute.
- In the 11th minute, UC Merced opened the scoring with a goal from Sophia Ruys, assisted by Andrea Alvarenga. Shortly after in the 11th minute, Jocelin Roa doubled the score to 2-0 with a goal off an assist from Alexia Alva. The 2-0 deficit held into halftime.
- Annika Akiona recorded another shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the Saints were unable to find the back of the net in the second half.
- UC Merced recorded goals in the 46th and 70th minute, running off with a 4-0 win.
