Gabriel Trimbur joined the Saint Martin's University athletics department in 2024. Before SMU, he was an assistant coach at Seattle University, primarily overseeing their distance squad. During his tenure, the Redhawks set seven school records in the women's 6k, men's 8k, men's/women's indoor 3k, men's indoor 5k, women's 5k, and men's 800m. The team had four athletes finish with all-conference honors and the women's team took home a conference title in the Distance Medley Relay at the 2024 WAC Indoor Championships.
Gabriel also oversaw much of the recruiting process for incoming students and helped bring in over a dozen new athletes to the 2024 team.
Before college coaching, Gabriel led a community group through Fleet Feet Seattle where he trained runners for the 10k, half, and full marathon and 50k distances. Athletes aged 23-65 took part in multiple programs and achieved personal bests across all distances. In the spring of 2024, four athletes qualified for the 2025 Boston Marathon while 50 others took part in 13 national and international races.Â
Gabriel earned his BA in Theatre, Performance from Wagner College where he competed for their Division I track and cross country teams. He holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Washington and a Level 1 USATF Coaching Certification.
