Kelly Kavanaugh

Kavanaugh is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Saint Martin's University volleyball team.

He joins the program after spending the 2012 season as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Alaska Anchorage. During his team with the Seawolves, Kavanaugh was responsible for assisiting with on-court training, match preparation, player evaluation and recruiting.

Kavanaugh spent four years as the head coach at Chugiak High School in Alaska from 2008 to 2011. During his time at the helm he guided the squad to four-straight top five finishes at the 4A state championships. His 2009 team captured the Cook Inlet Conference and Regional title for the first time since 1996. He posted a record of 63-17 overall and 47-9 in conference play.

He has also been extremely active in club volleyball serving as the director of Alaska ICE from 2009 to 2011. Kavanaugh also worked with the USA Volleyball High School Peformance program during that time as well.

Kavanaugh served as a teacher in the Anchorage School District for 20 years. He received  a bachelor's of arts in environmental conservation from the University of Colorado and a master's of arts in teaching from Alaska Pacific University.

He has two daughters, Kasey who is studying nursing while playing volleyball at East Carolina and Karlee is studying communication and speech pathology competing in sand volleyball at Georgia State University.
