Late Defensive Stand By Seattle U Holds Off Saints - A second half surge by Seattle University helped lift the Redhawks over a 3-point barrage by the Saints, led by Luke Chavez with 17 points, to an 88-72 victory inside the Connolly Complex. In an exhibition game for SMU, the Saints shot 14-for-27 beyond the arc to take a lead into halftime; however, a defensive stand by the Redhawks in the closing minutes silenced the Saints' comeback attempt. Leading the way was Luke Chavez with 17 points and six assists with two steals and rebounds. Jared Mathews added 11 points and five rebounds and Standley came off the bench for 10 points. Boyce and Little combined for 18 points, all coming from beyond the arc. Saint Martin's shot 24-for-55 (43.6 percent) from the floor, 14-for-27 (51.9 percent) beyond the arc and 10-for-14 (71.4 percent) at the free throw line. The Saints recorded 26 rebounds, 12 assists on 14 turnovers with five steals and two blocks.

Saints Hit Century Mark – For the first time since Dec 10, 2016, the Saints hit the 100-point mark in a game. Last year, the Saints scored 120 points against Northwest Indian College at home.

Tavian Henderson Leads Conference – Freshman Tavian Henderson leads the GNAC in field goal percentage at .744 percent on 29-for-39 shooting. In nine games, Henderson is averaging 8.1 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.6 apg on 21.2 minutes of action.

EJ Boyce Leads Conference – EJ Boyce leads the GNAC in Assist to Turnover Ratio at 2.3 by recording 30 assists and only committing 13 turnovers in nine games. His 3.3 assist per game mark is tied for tenth best in the conference. On the year, Boyce is averaging 10.3 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 3.3 apg, .89 spg in 30.8 minutes per game (fourth most in the GNAC).

Chavez Named Saint Of The Month – Every month, Saint Martin's names one male and one female athlete Saint of the Month. After leading the Saints in the month of November to a 6-1 start with a GNAC Team of the Week award, and a GNAC Player of the Week honor, Luke Chavez was named for the first time in his career.

SMU Connects From Deep – Saint Martin's rebounded from their poor 3-point shooting performances against Central Washington (27.3 percent) and Northwest Nazarene (23.1 percent) against Quest. The Saints found their rhythm early, going 11-for-15 (73.3 percent) in the first half and ending on 17-for-30 (56.7 percent), a new season-high in most made field goals and percent.

Saints' Hit Firsts In Over A Decade – In their game against Quest, the Saints connected for 17 3-pointers and recorded 19 steals, both marks the most in a single game in over 10 years.

Saints' Defense – SMU limited the Kermodes to only 49 points, the fewest points since Saint Martin's defeated Capilano University 100-42 last season. It marked only the second time the Saints have held their opponent under 50 points in the last seven years.

The Evergreen State College Preview – The 2017-18 season has not gone the way the Geoducks have imagined with a 1-10 start overall and 0-4 in conference play. Their lone win came earlier this month against Linfield College at home 65-55. The Geoducks feature three scorers above the double-digit mark, with Ryan Quigley leading the way at 13.7 points per game. Quinley also leads the team in rebounding at 6.3 boards per game and field goal percentage (61.4). Pat Ling is second in scoring at 12.9 ppg while managing 4.4 rpg and a team-leading 3.8 assist per game. Jaurence Chisholm is the third Geoduck over the double-digit at 10.3 ppg, along with 6.2 rpg and 2.1 apg. Dustin Meade and Shawn Spencer combined for 16.9 ppg and 10.8 rpg. The Geoducks as a team average 71.4 points per game while allowing 83.2 ppg. TESC averages 39.4 rebounds per game, 13.3 assists per game on 19.3 turnovers per game, along with 6.8 steals per game and 4.0 blocks per game. The Geoducks shoot 44.4 percent from the field, 27.3 percent beyond the arc and 68.4 percent at the free throw line.

GNAC Recap – Two teams remain perfect in GNAC play, with Northwest Nazarene, and Western Washington sitting at 2-0. Western Oregon, Alaska Anchorage and Alaska all sit tied for third at 2-1 records. Saint Martin's, Simon Fraser and Seattle Pacific remain gridlocked at 1-1 with Central Washington close behind at 1-2. Montana State Billings and Concordia continue to look for their first win at 0-3.
