LACEY, Wash. - The Saint Martin's Women's Soccer team controlled the tempo and ball by outshooting The Evergreen State College Geoducks 14-2 in a 2-0 home exhibition victory on Tuesday.
The Saints came out of the gates firing, taking four shots, one on-goal, and two corner kicks in the first 17 minutes of actions. SMU broke through the Geoducks' defense in the 39th minute after Selesha Harrah lofted a ball, what was suppose to be a cross, over the keepers' outstretched arms for the first goal of the match.
Jessica Moskowitz was credited with the assist on the goal.
Saint Martin's struck again in the 68th minute on a goal from
Gloria Petri that was hit from roughly 15 yards out to extend the score to 2-0.
Kylee Sarchett assisted Petri on what proved to be the final goal of the match.
Sara Christensen got the start at keeper, going a clean first half with one save before
Ali Koehler finished the clean sheet with one save in the second half.
Overall, the Saints led the Geoducks in shots (14-2), shots on goal (6-2) and corner kicks (5-1). The Geoducks edged the Saints in saves (4-2).
Saint Martin's return to the pitch on Saturday, August 26 with their final exhibition match against Thompson Rivers at 6:00 p.m. Live stats will be available on smusaints.com.
