Saints Two Of The Best In The West – The Saints got on the board with a goal in the 82nd minute after Lauren Allison connected on a Shea McKnight pass but ultimately fell 4-1 to Seattle Pacific in their first GNAC match of the year. The Falcons jumped out to an early lead on the Saints with a goal in the 11th minute. In the closing minutes of the first half, the Falcons struck again to increase their lead to 2-0 going into halftime. SPU tacked on their third goal of the match and second from Julia DeVere in the 63rd minute of the match. The fourth and final goal for Seattle Pacific came 12 minutes later after a couple give and go passes lead to an open shot for Simone Herzberg. The Saints, looking for their first goal in the month of September, found the back of the net after Lauren Allison turned loose on a ball 17 yards out, center of the field to back left of the goal. The goal marked the first goal for Allison and she was assisted by Shea McKnight. "I wish the result reflected the way we played today," said head coach Heather Cato. "I'm so proud of how the ladies came together and competed all the way to the end. We talked about getting one percent better every day and today we took a big step in that direction." Ali Koehler made the start at keeper, making 9 saves on 21 shots faced, with the team making the 10th save of the match. Brittany Orlosky, Kylee Sarchett and McKnight each recorded three shots with Dulce Armas putting her one shot on goal. Kiersten Madsen scored her first collegiate goal against the No. 1 team in the country, Western Washington in the 6-1 loss at home on Saturday.  The Vikings proved why they are number one ranked team in all of NCAA D-II after controlling the ball throughout the entirely of the match and gaining an early 3-0 lead in the first half. The Vikings scored first in the second half, just 1:23 minutes out of halftime to extend their lead over the Saints 4-0. However, the Saints found their first chance to score in the 77th minute when Madison Walker took a corner. Walker placed the ball on the right side of the box, finding Madsen who capitalized for her first goal in a Saints uniform. Madsen's goal was the first the Vikings had conceded since September 2 and first in conference play. Western Washington closed out the match with two goals in the final 10 minutes to secure the 6-1 win and their 31st straight match without a loss. "Unfortunately, we were unable to put together a full game today," said head coach Heather Cato. "WWU is a great side so a team can't take 45 minutes to start playing. However, I'm excited about the improvements that we made today and getting a goal on such a quality side is something we can build on." Madsen led the team with two shots including her one on goal, while Shea McKnight and Brittany Orlosky each recorded one shot. Ali Koehler got the start at keeper, making seven saves on 31 shots faced, increasing her total saves to 37 in five matches.
