Hawaii Hilo Mounts Late Inning Comeback To Stun Saints

HILO, Hawaii – The Saints led 9-3 in the seventh inning; however, the bullpen was unable to hold down the victory and Hawaii Hilo scored 12 runs in the final two innings to complete the series sweep.
 
The Vulcans struck first, the third time in the series, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fist on RBI singles to the outfield.
 
The Saints got on the board in the top of the third, when Derrick Holmason started the inning off with a single and advanced to third on a balk and wild pitch. After a walk to McNicoll, the Saints attempted a double steal, resulting in an error by the catcher, scoring one run and putting a runner on third. Ryne Oshiro tied the game with a RBI triple to left field, and later scored on a RBI groundout by Steven Sordahl. The Saints jumped infront 3-2.
 
Hawaii Hilo put runners on first and third with nobody out in the fourth. However, a double-play ball forced two outs, but scored the game tying run.
 
The Saints got two runners in scoring position in the fifth inning on singles by Sordahl and Colton Peha were followed by a wild pitch. Colvin came through with a single to center field, scoring both runners and putting Saint Martin's back on top 5-3.
 
SMU began adding insurance runs in the seventh inning, starting with a sac-fly by Jake Leonard brought home Austin Feist. An error loaded the bases for McNicoll later in the inning, and he connected on a ball for a double down the left field line, scoring two and extending the Saints' lead to 9-3.
 
However, Hawaii Hilo starting scratching back into the game in the bottom half of the seventh. With runners on second and third, a double to right field scored two runs, and a single to left eventually scored the Vulcans' sixth run of the game in the seventh. Hawaii Hilo tied the game later in the inning a pair of singles, scoring three runs.
 
The Saints quickly struck back, with Oshiro leading off the eighth with a double down the left field line. Oshiro advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a RBI single by Sordahl.
 
Once again, Hawaii Hilo mounted a comeback, scoring six runs in the bottom of the eighth to clinch the 15-10 victory and series sweep over Saint Maritn's.  
 
Ryan Dorney got the start for the Saints, going four innings, allowing three runs, two earned on five hits while striking out two. Luke Hare pitched 2.1 innings, giving up five runs before Adam Eskil (0-1) picked up the loss on 2/3 innings and three runs allowed. Robbie Shineman and Mathew Dunaway finished off the game.
